Miriam Tororosa
Miriam Toro-Rosario is a mother, environmental scientist, and community collaborator throughout the urban watershed of the Piedras River, the only river in San Juan. With over 15 years of experience, she has worked alongside residents, colleagues, and a variety of professionals across municipal, state, federal, and NGO sectors on topics related to environmental, natural, and social sciences.
In Puerto Rico’s Caribbean island environment, her work has included environmental monitoring and documentation, conservation, education, reforestation, recreation, biodiversity inventories, and more.
Her greatest professional aspiration is to contribute to the integrated management of the Piedras River watershed by incorporating the communities it encompasses and applying the most current scientific knowledge. Ultimately, she seeks to redefine the enjoyment of and healthy relationship with the surrounding natural environment, inspiring concrete and immediate actions that strengthen people's connection to the ecosystem of which they are a part.
