Ruth I Shear
Ruth Shear teaches undergraduates how to think like a scientist. After her PhD (Chemical Physics, Griffith U, Australia), and several postdocs, she joined the UT Austin teaching faculty in 1996 and is now a Professor of Practice. She co-created the Freshman Research Initiative in 2006. Urban Ecosystems started as high school summer outreach and our undergraduate research lab has been mucking about in creeks since 2018.
